Come and improve your English and learn how to fly a plane over some of the most spectacular landscape in the world with Southern Lakes English College!

Queenstown is situated in the Southern Alps in the South Island of New Zealand. It is located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by majestic mountain ranges. It is known as the adventure capital of the world, with many outdoor activities available; such as bungy jumping, hiking, jetboating, skydiving, white water rafting, paragliding, and many more.

The flying is with Learn to Fly in Wanaka, which is 1hr 20 min away from Queenstown!

There are five flying options available

Option A Trial Flight (20 minute flight) – NZ$ 172 on top of your English tuition fees

Option B Trial Flight (30 minute flight) – NZ$ 218 on top of your English tuition fees

No prior experience necessary, your first introduction to flying an aircraft. You get to do the take off, fly & land the plane all under the watchful eye of our highly experienced Instructors. Take your friend for FREE!! Personalised flying experience with you in control in a 20 or 30 minute flight over Wanaka township and Lake Wanaka.
(Allow 45 -60 minutes for the whole experience)

Option C Trial Flight (1 hour flight) – NZ$ 380 on top of your English tuition fees

No prior experience necessary. Your first introduction to flying an aircraft. You get to do the take off, fly & land the plane with an Instructor guiding you through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Mt Aspiring National Park and Glaciers. Take your friend for FREE!! Personalised flying experience with you in control during a 1 hour flight over Lake Wanaka and then up to the Mt Aspiring National Park to view Mt Aspiring and Glaciers.
(Allow 1 hour 20 minutes for the whole experience)

Option D Starter Pack (2 hours flying over 3 lessons) – NZ$ 635 on top of your English tuition fees

Trial flight & aircraft familiarization with pre-flight ground briefings prior to each flight. Basic aircraft handling including: Effect of controls; Straight and level flight; Climbing and descending
(Allow 1-2 days)

Option C First Solo Pack (10 hours flying) – NZ$ 3,330 on top of your English tuition fees

Student Pack – including Logbook, Aircraft checklists; Trial flight & Aircraft familiarization and a pre-flight ground briefings prior to each flight, plus all landing fees. Basic aircraft handling including: Effect of controls; Straight and level flight; Climbing and descending; Medium turns; Basic stalling; Circuits; Circuit emergencies. Are you ready for your first SOLO!
(Allow 7-8 days)

Start Dates for all options: First Monday of each month (October to May). Group Courses can be arranged on request

Language Requirements: For option A and B the level of English at the start of flying should be Intermediate or above. For option C the level of English at the start of flying should be Upper Intermediate or above

The student needs to have a certain level of English to successfully complete this course. There is an initial private solo language test and an independent language test prior to the flight test.
