New Zealand Management Academies (NZMA) is a 100 percent New Zealand-owned private tertiary institution founded in 1985.  Specialising in hospitality and cookery training, NZMA has four campuses – Auckland Central, Panmure, Auckland South and Waikato.  With around 2000 students per year, they offer a range of certificate and diploma qualifications for domestic and international students who are passionate about launching their careers.

NZMA offers small classes, industry-trained tutors and top quality facilities in a friendly, supportive environment.  Its diploma qualifications in cookery and hospitality management are accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).  NZMA is widely regarded by employers as one of the country’s leading hospitality training providers.

NZMA’s campuses have state-of-the-art bar and front-of-house training areas and fully-functioning student-run cafes.  The institute’s Panmure campus has a fully kitted out commercial training kitchen.  Employers and industry professionals have input into NZMA’s course content to ensure that it is continuously evolving according to the current needs of industry. This means NZMA students graduate with contemporary and relevant qualifications.

NZMA’s two-year Diploma in Professional Cookery equips students with a broad range of advanced cookery skills and knowledge, enabling them to progress as chefs in the hospitality industry.  The first year of the programme is highly practical and covers Level 3 and 4.  In the second year, students gain their Level 5.  They can choose to specialise in either patisserie or gastronomy and will develop a plan and implement a live dinner service.  The final semester of the course includes a full-time 600 hour paid internship and an accompanying research project, so students will graduate with significant industry experience as well as a highly-respected qualification. 

NZMA’s National Diploma in Hospitality Management thoroughly prepares students for the realities and demands of a management level career in the industry. The two year programme will fine-tune students’ practical skills and provide them with a sound knowledge of operations management and systems management in the hospitality industry. It is intended for people with no prior experience in hospitality but who wish to obtain broad knowledge and understanding of the operational divisions of this sector.

Graduates of both these industry-recognised programmes will gain an NZQA-accredited NZMA diploma qualification.
