A high quality independent Private School and College opened at the former Waitakere City Council complex in Waipareira Ave in Henderson in February 2007. Strategically located for convenient access for families in the western areas of Auckland, Sunderland is a secular, uniformed, co-educational day school, offering private education and catering for primary school and secondary college students. Sunderland provides outstanding opportunities for academic, cultural and sporting achievement.

ACG Sunderland provides quality teaching and learning for students from Year 1 through to Year 13. Along with the ACG philosophy of enhanced achievement through close individual attention, the School encourages goal setting and self motivation in all students. Individual learning needs are identified from the start and programmes put in place to provide the best possible learning environment for each student.

ACG Sunderland’s campus comprises architecturally designed premises and nine acres of landscaped grounds. As well as providing a gymnasium, computer suites, science laboratories, well stocked art rooms and a specialist technology department, the School places emphasis on the performing arts, with specialist music rooms, a band practice room, a drama room and a 150-seat auditorium.

Year 7 to Year 13
All eight essential learning areas are covered to create a broad and balanced curriculum.
 
These are: English; Spanish (Language); Mathematics; Science; Social Sciences; The Arts; PE; Health & Wellbeing; Technology; Computing

Year 11
All Year 11 students will sit the Cambridge International Examinations (IGCSE) in the following subjects: English; Mathematics; Coordinated Science; Physics; Chemistry; Biology
Plus options of: Art; Design Technology (Graphics); History; Physical Education

Year 12
All Year 12 students will sit the Cambridge International Examinations (AS) in the following subjects:
English Literature OR English Language
Plus options of: Art; Biology; Business Studies; Chemistry; Classical Studies; Design Technology ; (Graphics); Mathematics; Physics; Physical Education


Year 13
All Year 13 students will sit the Cambridge International Examinations (AS or A2) in the following subjects. English Literature OR English Language
Plus options of: Art; Biology (AS); Business Studies; Chemistry; Classical Studies (AS); Design Technology (AS) (Graphics); English Literature (AS); English Language (AS); Mathematics; Physics; Physical Education (AS)

With continued student growth additional subjects will be offered in future years. In 2012 we expect to offer IGCSE Spanish and IGCSE Music, continuing these into A-Levels for 2013.

ACG Sunderland has a wide range of cultural and sporting events for students.
The Performing Arts. We provide an outstanding performing arts curriculum, which brings out the best in students' musical and dramatic abilities and gives all students a chance to shine.

School Sports. At Sunderland, we play regular inter-school fixtures with other schools from Auckland and from around the North Island of New Zealand.
