Southern Lakes English College is a small, exclusive English as a Second Language school registered with the New Zealand Qualification Authority and is also an associate member of English New Zealand.

Southern Lakes English College offers a wide variety of top quality English language courses, including General English, International Examinations, many English plus courses ranging form English plus skiing/snowboarding (June- Oct) to English plus adventure and many others the rest of the year, Group holiday camps and more.

Our staff are well-qualified, experienced and caring. We pride ourselves on our supportive 'family' atmosphere where students make lifetime friendships as they study, play sport and have fun together.

On their first day, students are given a placement test, so we can ensure that they are placed into the most appropriate class.

At a glance. We are Situated in the centre of Queenstown at 57 Shotover St in very modern facilities, such as 6 large modern classrooms, library and Self-Access materials available, a student Lounge with views of the Remarkables Mountains. We have a gymnasium in the same building and use of free wireless Internet.

It also has winter, summer, spring and autumn festivals that attract visitors from all over the world. It is known as the adventure capital of the world, with many outdoor activities available; such as bungy jumping, jetboating, skydiving, hiking, white water rafting, paragliding, mountain biking and many more.

GENERAL ENGLISH COURSES
Southern Lakes English College provides a fun, motivating communicative approach to English learning ensuring that students make excellent progress in all areas of English with a special focus on speaking & listening skills.

ENGLISH PLUS SKIING/SNOWBOARDING
Learn English in the morning and enjoy skiing/snowboarding in the afternoon. Southern Lakes specialises in English plus snowsports from June to September. We are ideally located close to Coronet Peak (20 mins' drive from the ski lifts) - Queenstown's top ski field and also near to the Remarkables, Snowpark, Cardrona and Treble Cone ski fields.

ENGLISH PLUS ACTIVITIES
Learn English and have some great adventures in the afternoons. A great way to make friends and have adventures that you will never forget. Students study English in the mornings Monday to Friday and also 2 afternoons per week. They have 3 afternoon activities that they choose from a wide variety of adventures. They can share these activities with other students.

ENGLISH PLUS WORK PLACEMENT

A minimum 2-week intensive English course (25 hours a week) Work placement for a minimum of one week.
VOLUNTEER WORK Available among others:
Kiwi Birdlife Park - look after the cute Kiwi birds
Pet Lodge - take care of the variety of dogs and cats
Ski Resorts - general duties on ski mountain (June to October)
