We encourage you to be an active learner, to take language risks, and to take advantage of all opportunities to use the English you have learned.

Our programmes recognise the knowledge and experience that you already have, and build on this to maximise your learning. Study English at NMIT, New Zealand, and you will get a valuable and unforgettable educational experience.

Group Programmes

The English Language Centre can tailor a programme for groups of 10 students or more.

Our standard programme for groups is Active English.

This course is for International students and Permanent Residents who wish to study over 4 weeks (or longer). The course can be studied either full-time or part-time (mornings only) according to your group's requirements. During the course you will develop your English abilities in reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary, grammar and functional English through theme work and take part in some activities outside of the classroom. This course is recommended both for students who wish to study towards communicative English for travel and for work, and for students who want to study towards future tertiary education in an English speaking country.

Placement Assessment

On your first day you will have a campus orientation with members of the International Education team. After your orientation you will be taken to the English Language Centre where you will complete a Placement Assessment to assess your English language level and we will talk to you about your study goals.
