Certificate in Foundation Sound and Music (34 weeks)

The Certificate in Foundation Sound and Music is a 34-week programme designed to prepare students for further successful study. There is a focus on developing improved music, communication, literacy, numeracy, computer and self-directed study skills. Throughout the year students have contact with tutors from the Audio and Music departments as well as guest speakers and performers active in the music industry.

Certificate in Contemporary Music Performance (34 weeks)
Fee: NZ$ 18,000
The Certificate is a 34-week programme consisting of regular instrument tuition, band rehearsals, and a mix of theory and practical activities. There is a strong emphasis on preparing students for the entertainment industry by tutors who are ‘real world’ musicians and regular guest speakers who are well known figures from the music industry.

Certificate in Music (Introductory) (16 weeks)
Fee: NZ$ 8,500
If you have a passion for all things musical, this programme will equip you with the skills you need for higher-level study and a successful career in music composing, performing, producing or teaching. The Certificate in Music (Introductory) improves your understanding of musical history and styles from New Zealand and beyond, lets you experiment with new music technologies, and helps you find out how to turn your love of sound, composition and music technology into a rewarding career as a musician or in the music-related industries.

Entry requirements:

Study Film in the land of Lord of the Rings

New Zealand is the perfect location to start a film or TV-production career, or even to sample acting or writing. Here are some short courses to help you get on your way.

8 Week Introduction with the New Zealand Film Academy
This course is a short introductory to film making. Students having completed this course, will have written, filmed and directed a music video and 2.5 min short film. This gives a path toward further training for a career in the television and film industry.

16 Week Introduction with the New Zealand Film Academy
This is an intensive full time study on the film making process. Students having completed this course, will have done pitching, writing, casting, art directing, lighting, filming, producing and directing a music clip, two short films and a medium length (up to 20 minute) short film.

You will get a NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Applied Film Making and Television Production

Introduction to On Screen Acting with South Seas Film School
This three-day introductory course is designed to give students an insight into the methods and techniques taught on the one-year full time Diploma in On Screen Acting.

Introduction to Television Production with South Seas Film School
This course is designed to introduce students to the working practices of the television / video industries. Each course consists of 5 days practical exercises during which students receive intensive hands on practical experience in using professional video cameras.

1 year Introduction to Film and Television Production with the Film School
The Film School is running a one-year Certificate course, the Introduction to Film and Television Production course. Students must be eighteen years, and have a full driving licence. Students graduate with The Film School's own Certificate, which is recognised by the film and television industry.

3D Animation Workshop for Beginners with Raffles College of Design
This, 5 weeks (total 10 lessons) 3D animation workshop will give you an introduction into 3D animation. Using Autodesk® Maya®, this 4 week project-based workshop will cover the fundamental techniques in 3D including modeling, texturing, rigging, animating, lighting and rendering.
